Bobbie's tips: use ripe avocados (they should feel slightly soft but not mushy); for a smoother guacamole, mash more — for chunky, mash less; remove jalapeño seeds for a milder flavor or keep them for more heat; add a pinch of cumin for a deeper, restaurant-style flavor; make it just before serving for the best color and flavor; if making ahead, press plastic wrap directly on the surface to prevent browning. Store in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface — best within 1–2 days; to prevent browning, add an extra layer of lime juice or keep the pit in the container (it helps but is not foolproof). Method

  1. 1

Prep the ingredients: finely dice the onion, tomatoes, jalapeño, garlic, and cilantro.

  2. 2

Mash the avocados: cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a large bowl. Mash with a fork to your desired texture (chunky or smooth).

  3. 3

Add the ingredients: add the diced onion, tomatoes, jalapeño, garlic, and cilantro to the mashed avocados.

  4. 4

Season and mix: pour in the lime juice, add the salt, pepper, and cumin (if using). Gently fold everything together until well combined.

  5. 5

Taste and adjust: taste and adjust the seasoning. Add more lime juice for brightness, more salt if needed, or extra jalapeño for more heat.

  6. 6

Serve and enjoy: serve immediately with tortilla chips, tacos, grilled meats, or as a topping for your favorite dishes.
